Our books celebrate the complexity of life and we can’t begin to fathom where your story goes; you do NOT need to answer the questions and ideas below - they are just sparks to ignite your thoughts and to help put your story into written form. Not all stories are positive, but every life turn offers a new perspective. Reading about your grit and insight during life’s most pivotal moments is what is most transformative for the readers.

Closets Are for Clothes

Was it scary? Who did you tell first, and why? Were you accepted, rejected, perhaps you found acceptance in unexpected places? How did this experience alter your sense of self - for better or worse? What would you tell your younger self? What advice would you give someone?

Humans: Saved By Sobriety

How did your addiction start? How did it end? Who did it affect? What affects you the most? What does life look like for you now? Regrets, lessons learned, apologies made, grace given… Think about those who might be beginning their sobriety journey. What would you want to hear? How can you relate?

Love: Being A Birth Mother

What is your pregnancy story? Why did you choose adoption? What do you want people to understand about you and your journey? How has it changed your life? What would you tell your younger self? Do you have a reunification story, or perhaps missed chances? What would you tell your child or their adoptive parents?

Turning Points: Abortion

Help us undo the stereotypes. What were the circumstances? Why was it the best option? How did It change you, make you stronger, change your future? What would you tell someone being pressured to make a decision? How does one make this decision? These are stories about choices by those who have made them; it’s not an abortion rights discussion.

Love: Beyond The Binary

Love comes in many forms. Families are no longer a man+woman+2.5 kids. What is your family like? Who is in it? Tell us a story about how it formed - purposefully, organically, magically? What does it take to sustain? What is something special - a tradition or gesture - your family does for each other? What challenges have you faced and how do you cope?

Humans: Indomitable Emigrants/Immigrants

Tell us a story about your journey, physically, emotionally, geographically. What did you go through? What was the turning point? How did you decide where to go? Did you have a choice? What saved you? What is the biggest struggle of going somewhere new? Have you found acceptance? Would you go back? What is the something you wish for?

Humans: Behind Bars

People shouldn’t be defined by their worst moment. Who are you? What led to the decisions you made? How are you mis- understood? What would you say to a younger you or someone similar? Where do you find hope? How do you pass the days (if incarcerated) or restart a life? This is not a place to prove your innocence, but the highest value is in the truth.

Parents of Neuro-Diverse Children

Raising a special needs child tests patience, marriages, sanity. It requires sacrifices not seen or understood by many. How did you find out? How has it changed you as a person/ parent? What has having a neuro-diverse child helped you learn, or appreciate? What is beautiful and awe-inspiring about your child? Perhaps you can put an aha! moment into words.
